Flores Residence
Years ago we had been contracted to
build a bathroom vanity for a
remodel based on our Boynton
Night Table. Upon delivery, the
contractor asked if I would step into
the kitchen to see if there was anything
we could do to help them out with the
existing cabinets. When I saw the cabinets,
my first question was "do you want to
replace these with all new cabinets?".
His response, "these are the new cabinets!".
There are plenty of people out there
that
have a garage full of woodworking tools,
but that does not make them a carpenter
even though they make some sort of
living from it. The previous carpenter
did use cherry for the cabinets but the
stain was more like a milk paint than
a stain as you could not see the wood.
Also, sanding did not seem to be an
option as all doors and drawer fronts
were very rough with sharp edges.
The customer found a guy who gave them
a really good price and then paid us more than
that to come in and put a new facade
on the cabinet boxes. Moral of the story? Hire
someone who knows what they are doing. You will save money and time in
the long run.
